ODST- Share Account Transfer
Share Account Transfer (ODST): When overdraft occurs, necessary funds will automatically be transferred from the share savings account in order to clear a checking account negative balance. Transfers from a savings account to checking will be made in increments of $50. An activation fee of $5 will be assessed for each account transfer transaction. Member agrees all funds in the master share account are available for transfer to cover overdraft items. If an NSF item is present and sufficient funds to cover the item are not available in the share account, a return fee of $25 will be assessed, and the item will be returned to the presenter unpaid. The credit union reserves the right to revoke this privilege at any time. A Non Sufficient Funds Fee may be imposed for covering overdrafts created by check, in person withdrawal, ATM withdrawal, or other electronic means. Whether your overdrafts will be paid is discretionary, and the credit union reserves the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, not making regular deposits, or you have too many overdrafts.
Courtesy Pay Privilege
Courtesy Pay Privilege is an overdraft protection service that is activated when you overdraw your checking account and do not have funds to cover a transaction. We will consider, without obligation on the part of the credit union, the payment of overdrafts up to a set limit.
Here’s how Courtesy Pay helps you:
- Convenience: Don’t have the funds in your account to complete a transaction? Not a problem. Courtesy Pay covers your transaction on the spot.
- Privacy: Courtesy Pay safeguards you from the embarrassment of bouncing a check or having your debit card declined at your favorite store. Neither the merchant nor the other patrons will be aware of the overdrawn status of your account.
- Peace of Mind: Courtesy Pay can prove vital in urgent circumstances such as a break down on a road trip or an emergency trip to the walk-in clinic.
Heritage Credit Union checking accounts come standard with Courtesy Pay overdraft protection for the following transactions:
- Share Drafts (Checks)
- ACH transactions
- Debit Card purchases
- ATM withdrawals
The regular non-sufficent funds fee applies to each item or transaction honored under the Courtesy Pay program. Members will be notified of any Courtesy Pay activity.
The Credit Union may not pay the overdraft if the member has any of the following:
- Reached his/her Courtesy Pay limit
- Opted-out of the service
- Abused the service
- Not met other obligations with the credit union
The Credit Union’s Courtesy Overdraft Program Service is an added privilege available after 30 days of checking account activity. Courtesy Pay provides members with the security of knowing their overdraft may be paid up to a total limit of $500 for Heritage, eChecking, or Prestige Checking Accounts and $200 for a Stability Checking Account. A $25 fee will be charged of each overdrawn items including checks, ACH items and Bill Payments. You will have up to 30 days to repay the overdraft.
ATM or everyday debit card transactions are not covered under the Courtesy Pay Program unless you opt in. If you chose to not opt in to the Courtesy Pay Program, all overdrafts will be automatically returned as “NSF” and applicable fees will be assessed to your account.
